We are entering a new phase in our campaign. From a ballot initiative to legislative approach, we have evolved but our central demand for wealthy institutions to pay their fair share stays the same. Our coalition successfully pushed Mayor Brandon Scott and our anchor institutions to sign a new voluntary Payment-In-Lieu-Of-Tax agreement, bringing in much needed revenue for the city. Though, we still have so much more work to do to build a budget process that is fair and demand true transparency and accountability of our elected officials and our anchor institutions. We can only do this with strong coalition leaders committed to building a people-powered movement.

Our next coalition campaign: The People’s Budget is radical reimagining of democracy that takes a democratic, community-led approach to deciding how a city should invest its resources.

We are restructuring our coalition and calling on engaged and passionate Baltimore residents to apply to be part of our Steering Committee which will have a representative from every council district and will play a central role in the direction and strength of the coalition. We are also opening seats to join our Communications Committee and People’s Budget Committee.
